SMA Journal of Anecdotes

What is a weblog?

Daily Log Page for 1/1 | Postings List | Contact Me

A weblog is an online journal. It's a place for us to share news, views, experiences, photos...whatever occurs to us. You'll find our stories on a variety of topics.  When the spirit moves us, we may also include longer essays on topics. We hope this journal will help new people in our community, and it's full of laughs, grins, and old-fashioned, learned wisdom from those of us who might have been here longer.  Please contibute!!!!  It will help new-comers.

I'll make changes to this site on a regular basis, so you should check back often.

In this area we'll include links that highlight areas of the weblog. For example, we hope to have separate sections for Telmex, Electricity, building houses, re-modeling, buying a house, finding a lawyer, dentist, doctor, etc., so when you send your anecdotes, please put them in 'Word', and in the topic space tell me which area your story is about.  If you would like to have your name unpublished with your story, please tell me.

Below is our theme song, and how we hope we might feel one day.  Lyrics were supplied by Liz.  Thanks!

Manaña by Peggy Lee

Dee weendow she ees broken
an' de rain ees comin' in.
Eef someone doesn't feex it
I'll be soaking tru my skeen.
But eef we wait a day or two
Dee rain weel go away
An' wee don' need no weendow
On such a sunny day.
Manaña, manaña, manaña ess soon enough for me

Hmmmmmm.......almost seems like the Zen of Mexíco?

ALSO FOR OUR NEW PEOPLE!  The very first lesson you need to remember is that here, slander is a very, very serious offence, and is agressively prosecuted.  In other words, watch your mouth, even in the most private company, then you won't 'slip' in public where someone could hear you, and you'll get used to the custom, and feel more at ease and comfortable.

Be sure to get in touch so I know you're out there!  Also, please send me your stories about how/what you did to get used to the quirkiness of San Miguel de Allende, Gto.  We hope this journal is one way of helping new people get into the culture and ways of doing things here.
